I2 Conference

October 09th, 2007 | Category: Experience | Written by: jferolo

Just finished up a presentation on “The Adding Machine” with George Brown and colleagues from the department of information resources and technology. The I2 conference was very interesting and there were lots of uber-smart folks who were into networks, packet switching and assorted high-bandwidth applications. It was actually quite humbling to be around so many pioneers in the field and to get an idea of how amazing the network is and what is coming down the pipe (no pun intended). We co-presented with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and they were doing some very interesting work with H.264 and hi-def transmission and that is an area that we definitely want to get into. The scalable nature of the codec portends good things for us and will be a focus of research over the next few months as we consider technology and approach for our next creative effort that is codenamed, “Voices.” More to follow on that!

Flasher!

October 11th, 2007 | Category: Experience | Written by: jferolo

Today was spent finishing up my tenure portfolio! Woot. I submit on Monday after a weekend of proofing. Today, I spent time with my 413 class coming up with a photo concept for the Multimedia website. We were playing with the projector and thinking about using icons and code example as tattoos. The above is a Flash example– and an example of Flashing (up to my old trix)! Other activities included a design pitch to a large environmental firm and they really like the work. Big props out to Heather and Mitch who realized some fantastic designs and I am lucky to be able to work with them.

Tenure Portfolio Submitted

October 29th, 2007 | Category: Experience | Written by: jferolo

If anyone was interested, the average tenure portfolio is about 6” thick. Many thanks to those that wrote letters of support and my many colleagues. There is quite a bit of work represented here and much of it wouldn’t have been completed without the folks that I have had an opportunity to work with and for. For those who I haven’t thanked personally, please know I appreciate your support and guidance. Tonight is for Mojitos!
