The Iona Group purchased 10 XO-1 laptops to be donated to needy children, 5 were sent to villages in Africa and 5 were given to Bloomington Day Care, a low-income daycare center in Central Illinois. The laptops give children the chance to learn the skills of using a computer as well as to benefit from the many educational and creative programs featured on the XO-1.

One Laptop Per Child provides fun and educational technology to children around the world. The XO-1 laptop is a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected machine which allows children to learn, create, communicate, and grow. By tapping into the imagination of children across the globe, One Laptop Per Child hopes to empower communities leading to a more productive global community.
